Richard Winchester, Long & Foster retiree

Richard Charles Winchester (Dickie), 79, of Millsboro, died peacefully at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Va. Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, with his family by his side. He was born in Wilmington, July 8, 1934.

Mr. Winchester graduated from Archmere Academy as a member of the Class of 1953. He was a graduate of Dickinson College Class of 1957. He also served in the U.S. Army as a captain. He retired from Long & Foster Realtors. Mr. Winchester was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching his Philadelphia Eagles play every season.

Mr. Winchester was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Joanne N. Winchester; and by his parents, Henry McComb Winchester Sr. and Anne O’Toole Winchester. His eldest brother, Henry McComb Winchester Jr., passed away Dec. 22, 2013.

Mr. Winchester is survived by his sister, Jane Winchester Asbill Graham; his brother David G. Winchester; his daughters, Julie Winchester Davis (Halbert) of Fredericksburg and Kerry Winchester Clark (Jerry) of Millsboro. He is also survived by four grandchildren whom he loved and adored, Albert Myles Clark, Austyn Charles Clark, Addelyn Christine Clark and Haleigh Winchester Davis, as well as by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 9, for Richard and Henry Winchester at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Roman Catholic Church, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be private.
