Marie A. Francis, celebrated cook
Marie A. Francis, 80, of Lewes, peacefully passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at her home.
Born in Chester, Pa., Jan. 13, 1934, daughter to the late Harry and Mary Culbert, she was the beloved wife of 50 years to the late Albert Francis. Marie and her husband were a dynamic duo and were the definition of true love. Together they built a family and shared traditions that will forever be remembered. Marie and her late husband enjoyed spending time with their family and trips to Atlantic City, N.J. The family is at peace knowing Marie has reunited with her husband.
Marie spent her life being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for her cooking and would spend hours preparing meals for her family. While in Pennsylvania, Marie worked within the food industry. After moving to Delaware, she worked at Happy Harry’s Pharmacy Department. She met many of her friends while employed there. Her friends and customers expressed how kind and sweet she always was.
Marie will be missed by all for her devotion, kindness, and her love for cooking and the slots, as well as her beautiful blue eyes.
Marie is survived by her four children: Christine Lambert (the late Raymond), Veronica Kimmel (Daniel), Steven Francis (Karen) and Elaine Rogers; 12 grandchildren: Derek Lambert (Merydth), Kyle Lambert, Jay Rogers, Daniel Kimmel (Sarah), Jesse Rodgers, Patricia Maull (Donte), Steven Francis, Anthony Francis (Malika), Marie Mansfield (Kyle), Stephanie Francis, Stacey Francis and Albert Lambert; 18 great-grandchildren, Audrey, Gavin, Aidan, Victoria, Dayana, Giana, Iysiah, Keishawn, Gabriella, Madison, Jude, Jalen, Anthony, Taliah, Jordan, Turray, Joey and Eric; and her faithful cat.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 6 p.m. Interment will be held Friday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m., at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
