Abraxas texted me the other day with a picture of a pencil sketch he is doing for the cover of the Lewes Chamber of Commerce 2015 Visitors' Guide. The sketch shows a stretch of the boardwalk section of the new Gordons Pond Trail in Cape Henlopen State Park.
"I've changed things a bit - placed a trademark heron in the scene and added a tree in a place that the composition needed. Of course the fire towers are in the background to provide a special sense of place. It's not exactly as what people will see out there but I think it captures the overall feel of a very special place. That's why I use a pencil instead of a camera."
We're lucky to have such fine artists in our area, who can make a living because of an appreciative audience, and who have such a dynamic and beautiful coastal world as their muse.
