Delaware photographer Kevin Fleming will celebrate the grand opening of his Lewes gallery on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, Feb. 14.
Known for his moving photos of nature and precisely-timed shots of wildlife, Fleming said he looks forward to opening a new gallery in Lewes.
“I’ve done so much,” Fleming said of his career. “But I certainly love photographing wildlife and nature, and a touch of landscape. Herring Point is one of my favorite places to shoot.”
Fleming started out working for various Delaware newspapers after high school, followed by a 10-year stint with National Geographic. Perhaps best known for photographing the assassination of Egyptian president Anwar Sadat in 1981, Fleming has taken photos in 28 countries and all 50 states and has won numerous awards, nationally and internationally. Completely self-taught, he has never taken a photography class in his life.
Fleming’s latest venture, the Lewes gallery – at 103 Second St., formerly The Cotton Club – follows the success of his Rehoboth gallery. The Lewes gallery will open for business at noon, with a public reception from 5 to 8 p.m.
Guests will receive a free “Delaware Beaches” calendar featuring the photographer’s work. In celebration of the grand opening, Fleming has discounted his works during opening weekend, in store and online, Friday-Sunday, Feb. 13-15. The gallery will feature a variety of prints, books, note cards, and calendars.
Fleming is also working on a book featuring photos of Manhattan. It will be his 27th in a long line of popular books, including “Wild Delmarva” and “The Heart of America.”
