Donald L. Parsons, WWII veteran

Donald L. Parsons, 95, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at his home. He was born Jan. 14, 1920, in Alexandria, Va., son of the late Vernon L. and Blanche (Gaines) Parsons.

Mr. Parsons proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a longtime member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. During his spare time, he enjoyed golfing. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Parsons was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary G. (Jones) Parsons; a brother, Gordon Parsons and a sister, Jane Nalls. He is survived by his two daughters: Donna L. Haviland and her husband Sam, and Debra J. O'Donovan; four grandchildren: Matthew Haviland, Rebecca Haviland and her husband Zsolt Nagy, Jacqueline Boland and her husband Joseph, and David Dowell and his wife Joyell; and his nephews and their spouses.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m., at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be held following the funeral service at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton.

Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
