Firefly fills up The Woodlands
It's official: Firefly Music Festival 2015 has sold out.
Up to 90,000 music enthusiasts flocked to the Woodlands at Dover International Speedway this past weekend for the four-day music festival, featuring headliners Paul McCartney, Kings of Leon and The Killers.
After tickets were sold out on Firefly's website, festival organizers announced a partnership with StubHub as an opportunity for fans to buy and sell tickets. StubHub is also the sponsor of the festival's acoustic stage and cafe, The Coffee House.

“With the sellout and increased demand for Firefly passes this year, the demand for and accessibility of tickets on the secondary ticket market is inevitable,” said Tad Jenkins, vice president of customer experience and marketing at Red Frog Events and Firefly. “StubHub shares a similar outlook on fan engagement and satisfaction. This partnership will help ensure all Firefly pass holders, whether purchased through FireflyFestival.com or StubHub, have a stellar experience leading up to and at the festival.”
The fourth Firefly Music Festival returns to the Woodlands Thursday, June 18, through Sunday, June 21, and features more than 100 artists plus the main headliners.
In addition to the partnership with StubHub, Red Frog Events announced in September that it was joining forces with Goldenvoice, the creators of Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Another first for the 2015 festival includes a live broadcast of select performances Friday, June 19, through Sunday, June 21, on AXS TV.
Since the inaugural event in 2012, Firefly Music Festival has tripled in attendance. A study conducted by the University of Delaware found the 2014 festival contributed more than $68 million to the regional economy, and festival organizers hope that with the addition of Big Barrel Country Music Festival, the events' economic impact in 2015 may jump to $100 million.
The Delaware Department of Transportation also has updated road closures for the event. The Leipsic Road and Persimmon Tree Lane closures will start at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 18, instead of Friday, June 19. Those closures are subject to change, and the roads will reopen after the festival, which ends Sunday evening, June 21.
