Traffic alert: A lot happening in Lewes on Saturday

Depending on the weather, traffic in the Lewes area could be very dicey on Saturday this weekend.  The girls lacrosse camp that brought more than 100 teams to the Lewes School and Cape Henlopen High School last year is scheduled for this weekend.  The Sea Glass Festival, which draws crowds in the vicinity of 1,000, will be taking over the grounds of the Lewes Historical Society complex and that means the Saturday morning Historic Lewes Farmers Market will be moving operations to the parking lot of Shields Elementary on Sussex Drive. The only thing missing from this same scenario which gridlocked traffic last summer and had Lewes Police blocking any more traffic from entering the city of Lewes is the Classic Car Show at Hazzard's Auto on Savannah Road.  That event was held last weekend along with the Lewes Garden Tour.

Those planning to attend services for Lewes activist Hope Tyler at Parsell's Funeral Home and Crematorium should consider the traffic potential when they get ready to make their way out to Carpenter's Corner.

Those on foot or bicycle should have no problems, but be careful.

Happy motoring, cycling or walking.
