Helen R. Herrick, former Lewes resident
Helen R. Herrick, 84, of Delta, Pa., formerly of Lewes, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, at home surrounded by her family. She was the widow of James S. Herrick.
Born Dec. 8, 1931, in West Grove, Pa., she was the daughter of George and Violet (Weidner) Thomas.
Helen was the owner and operator of Woodward Florist in Walpole, N.H. until she retired. Upon retirement, she and her husband James moved to Lewes. She last resided in Delta in 2008 where she lived with her son, Rick.
She loved crafts, and was a talented pianist, with the ability to play by ear rather than reading music.
She is survived by two children, Shirley “Sammy” Brough, wife of Wayne, in Wilmington, and Donald Richard “Rick” McCormick, husband of Tonya, in Delta; and five grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 2:30 p.m., in Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Delta. Visitation will begin prior to the service at 2 p.m. Inurnment will be private at Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Bear.
