Events This Weekend in Delaware and Maryland

August 24, 2023

There's a full schedule of events to tell you about this weekend before the Labor Day holiday, located in towns and cities throughout the greater coastal region.

From Milton to Wilmington and even across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Annapolis, there's certainly no shortage of opportunities to get outside and enjoy yourself over the next few days at and near the beaches. And then get ready for a great sendoff to the summer next weekend as we celebrate the end of another great high season at the fabulous Delaware and Maryland beaches.

And if you enjoy local festivals and events, the following week kicks off the 2023 Fall Festival Season in the region. So get ready for a couple of months of great local fun!

For this week, we begin in the town of Milton with one of that municipality's most popular annual events.

Bargains on the Broadkill (August 26)

This year's Bargains on the Broadkill and Great Duck Race is planned for Saturday, August 26, at Milton Memorial Park in downtown Milton.

Scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the day's festivities will include dozens of local vendors, food options, live music, the rubber duck race on the Broadkill River, and all sorts of family fun.

Irish Eyes Restaurant will also be sponsoring a kayak & canoe race during the course of the event, which is sponsored by the Milton Chamber of Commerce.

Paddlefest (August 26)

The 7th Annual Paddlefest at Delaware Seashore State Park is planned for this Saturday, August 26, beginning at 9 a.m.

Paddle launch times will be staggered between 9 and 11 a.m. with low tide promising an enjoyable paddling experience for all participants.

There is an after-party planned following the event, which will be held from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., on the ocean side of Tower Road in the state park.

The party will feature live music, food trucks, exhibitors, vendors, and plenty of fun for everyone.

Beach BBQ - Back to the 80s (August 26)

This year's annual fundraiser for the Children's Beach House in Lewes will have an 80s theme and is scheduled for Saturday, August 26, from 6:30 until 9:30 p.m.

Organizers have a full lineup planned for the evening, including a buffet by Chaps Pit Beef, live music and entertainment, both live and silent auctions, an art show, alcoholic beverages, and more.

As always, proceeds from this annual event benefit the programs and services at the Children's Beach House, which provides services to children and families throughout the region.
