Events This Weekend in Delaware and Maryland

One of the biggest happenings of October highlights Fall Festival Season this week with the four-day Sunfest event taking center stage in fabulous Ocean City, Maryland.

But while Sunfest is unquestionably the biggest event of this third weekend of October, other fun and family-friendly events are taking place in towns and municipalities throughout the region.

So pick your favorite and plan for a great weekend at or near the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

Sunfest (October 19-22)

Ocean City throws one of the biggest parties of the year over the next few days, as the multi-day Sunfest event returns with plenty of musical entertainment, kid’s activities, great food, and much more.

This year’s headliners include the Spin Doctors, Bob Lougheed & The Memphis Mafia, Ballyhoo!, Randy Lee Ashcraft and the Salt Water Cowboys, and TreeHouse. Click here for the full four-day musical lineup at Sunfest 2023.

As always, the festival is free to attend, though tickets are required for headline acts.

Hours for this year’s event are Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Events are held at the Ocean City Inlet parking area, adjacent to the city’s world-famous boardwalk.

Zombie Fest (October 21)

The undead take over the Milton Theatre this Saturday, October 21, during the 2023 edition of "Zombie Fest."

The theme for this year is "Carnival," with events and activities that include a sword swallower, a strongman, and an aerialist.

The day also includes live musical acts, on-site vendors, kids' activities, a laser show, zombie makeup stations, a costume contest, a "zombie walk" through Milton, and much more.

All proceeds from Zombie Fest benefit the ongoing programs at the Milton Theatre, as well as the Milton Fire Department, and the Milton Community Food Pantry.

All of the creepy fun begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Milton Theatre. Admission is free.

Wags & Whiskers Fall Festival (October 21)

This dog-friendly event is planned for Saturday, October 21, at Hudson Fields in Milton and promises hours of fun for the whole family.

Scheduled for 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., events planned for the day include photo opportunities, games, a diverse selection of vendors, live music, adoption opportunities, food trucks, demonstrations, and more.
