Each year, Beebe Healthcare hosts its “Miracle Mile” event to unite people whose lives have been touched by cancer and celebrate survivorship. This year, the event will be held Sunday, June 2, at Beebe’s Specialty Surgical Hospital, located at 19161 Health Way in Rehoboth Beach. Walkers can meet at 9 a.m. at the Specialty Surgical Hospital and together will walk a lap around the Abessinio Health Campus. “This event brings our community together in a special way,” said Maurice Winkfield, Executive Director of Beebe Oncology Services. “The cancer journey can be a long and emotional one for patients and their families. The Miracle Mile event celebrates that journey and reinforces that they are not alone. It also gives patients an opportunity to reconnect with their care providers from Beebe and to express appreciation for the excellent care they have received.” The Miracle Mile event supports Beebe’s Cancer Patient Special Needs Fund, which is facilitated by the Beebe Medical Foundation. This program provides financial assistance to cancer patients who are facing personal hardships, and who may have difficulty paying for prescriptions, co-pays, medications, living expenses, and transportation.
