Angola by the Bay annual craft show set July 16

July 12, 2022

Angola by the Bay will host its 47th annual craft show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, July 16, rain or shine, at its community clubhouse at 33457 Woodland Circle, Lewes.

More than 100 vendors from throughout the state will sell unique products that include stained-glass works, handmade fabric objects, lawn ornaments, clothing, bath and body products, driftwood art, photographs, jewelry, fishing lures, paintings, plants, and more. Local authors also will be on hand selling their books.

“The ABTB show has a great mix of vendors from fine art to affordable crafts in a shaded grove of trees to beat the heat,” said Kathy Fessenbecker, a local artist and an ABTB Sea Gals officer. “Our group has been offering this show for decades. We are excited to have both repeat vendors and many new artists this year.”

The event has become a locals’ favorite. Shoppers get to stroll through a lovely, wooded area where rows of vendors display their goods. Parking and admission are free, and customers may purchase hot dogs, drinks and snacks prepared by ABTB’s men’s club, the Owls.

Shirl Evans, whose craft stand Just the Spot is filled with handcrafted art for households, is returning for the second year. “I love all the people I meet. I enjoyed being a customer for years, so much that last year I decided to get my feet wet and set up my own table,” said Evans.

The craft show is sponsored by the Sea Gals group, part of the ABTB community. Established in 1975, the Sea Gals is a social and a fundraising group made up of 70 women who contribute monies raised to support local nonprofit organizations, charitable groups and projects within the ABTB community and the surrounding area. Charities include Pathways to Success, Sonshine Equine Therapy Center, local food pantries and Boys & Girls Clubs.

Other fundraising activities to support Sea Gals’ charitable organizations include a Mahjong tournament and a fall yard sale. All vendor space is filled.
