The Cape baseball team claimed the Henlopen Conference title with a 6-0 win over Delmar May 20.
The Vikings finish the regular season with a 17-2 record. The losses came to Dover 11-6 and Archbishop Spalding of Maryland 6-3 in the second and third games of the season.
Cape has won 16 straight games entering the state tournament, where they’ll be the top seed and face the winner of No. 16 Sussex Central and No. 17 Lake Forest. The second-round game is slated for Saturday, May 28.
In the Vikings’ win over Delmar, Josh Reinhold allowed one hit and struck out five. Brian Fleming was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, while Austin Rhue was 2-for-2 with two walks and two RBIs. Nick Cox added a pair of RBIs.
