Delmarva Christian boys’ basketball holds off Salisbury School

January 19, 2023

The Delmarva Christian boys’ basketball squad moved to 7-2 on the season with a 79-70 win over the Salisbury School Jan. 17 on the Royals’ home court.

Junior guard Ed Higgins scored 28 to lead the Royals, while senior center Carter Breasure added 21 points in the Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference victory.

“We struggled in the first half of the Worcester [Prep] game, then got it it together and played well the second half and overtime,” said Breasure of the Royals’ 63-54 win over the Mallards Jan. 12. “We prepared all week for this game, so we were ready.”

“If we keep playing like we did tonight, I think we have a good chance in the ESIAC,” said Higgins.

The Dragons defeated the Royals 86-88 in the 2022 ESIAC finals.

Mason Bohinski hit for 14, including four three-point shots. Xavier Efford garnered 12. Kasey Bell sunk two baskets.

“The Worcester game was a good wake-up call for us,” said Royals coach Marc Hannah. “I always tell the guys that we aren’t good enough not to give 100% and win. They knew they had to come out here from the jump and they couldn’t let this team get up on us. Salisbury is too good of a team for that.”

Tyler Ball led the Dragons with 38 points.
