Delmarva Christian softball makes quick work of Auks 17-0

Royals move to 2-2
March 28, 2024

Delmarva Christian pitchers Kylie McCabe and Lily Hutt combined for a two-hit 17-0 shutout of Archmere March 25 in Georgetown. They struck out four and five batters, respectively.

The 2-2 Royals garnered 14 hits in the contest. Rachel Hall went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Lydia Woods went 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Bella Marinelli and Kaelyn McGuinness each knocked in two runs, while Lilly Sells, Lily Hutt, Taylor Lowe, Isabella Stubbs, Megan Brining and Kylie McCabe each had an RBI.

“It was a good confidence builder,” said Royals coach Rachel Fetterman. “It was good for the girls. They could work on their timing at bat, and even our good hitters could work on their outside hitting. They all did well. They all got on base or they got their bat on the ball. When the young girls got in, the starters were their cheerleaders. The girls flip roles really well. That means it’s bigger than yourself.”

“Everything was working for me today,” said McCabe. “It just helps having a strong defense behind me so I can trust all of my pitches, and I know they are going to field it if I need them. It’s going to help me down the road by gaining more experience and seeing my pitches that work so I can help the team out.”

“This was a good game for the team,” said Lowe. “Not only do the subs get to play, but it also helps build team chemistry.”

Madelyn Benson and Ruby Merenda each had a hit for the Auks.
