The Dovells to perform in Rehoboth Beach July 22

The Rehoboth Beach Bandstand will present The Dovells for a free concert at 8 p.m., Saturday, July 22.

"I'm very excited to bring this group to Rehoboth Beach. The Dovells are an excellent group that has a long history of musical entertainment, and we know that their unique blend of music and comedy is sure to please any audience," said Bandstand Program Director Corey Groll.

They were known as the dance craze group of the decade. The Dovells transformed themselves from just a recording group to a top musical comedy act performing in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, and around the country at some of the top night clubs. The Dovells' hit records include The New Continental, Bristol Stomp, Hully Gully Baby, Bristol Twistin' Annie, You Can't Sit Down and Here Come The Judge. Band members Jerry Gross and Mark Stevens continue to perform nationally and internationally at concerts, nightclubs and corporate events, including the 1993 inaugural ball and other presidential events with President Bill Clinton.
