Fiery Route 9 crash creates congestion

A crash on Route 9 near Old Vine Boulevard west of Five Points slowed traffic in the area.
The incident occurred about 2:12 p.m., July 30, west of Lewes when a vehicle crashed into an apartment building and caught on fire. Three vehicles were involved in the incident. A building at The Vineyards also caught fire.
More information will be added when it is released.
Two other vehicles were involved in the crash. Both ended up on the side of Route 9 facing east.
Firefighters and ambulances from Lewes and other communities quickly responded to the accident.
Firefighters worked to put out the fire that gutted the van and damaged at least one apartment.
