Georgetown Arts & Flowers names scarecrow contest winners
Georgetown Arts & Flowers has announced the 2024 winners of its Best Dressed Scarecrow Contest.
Each year, Georgetown businesses, organizations, neighborhoods and government offices register with the organization to participate in this fun event. From late September until the day after Halloween, their creative and spooky scarecrows grace the town’s light posts along East Market, West Market and South Bedford streets.
The scarecrows not only reflect past and current trends and fads, but also the whimsical mood of the season and the community unity to bring a smile to all who live and work in or just pass through the town.
Judging is based on original presentation, creativity, use of color and artistic definition of scarecrow. The judges view all the entries, carefully picking the final eight from which the three winners are chosen, followed by three honorable mention prizes.
This year’s winners are: Cinderberry Homeowners Landscape Committee, first place; Cost Cutters Hair Salon, Georgetown, second place; and Springboard Delaware, third place.
Honorable mentions were awarded to: Sussex Tech Adult Education; Town of Georgetown offices; and Fuqua, Willard and Schab, PA.
