Georgetown man faces felony home improvement fraud charges
A Georgetown man faces felony home improvement charges after police say he took $24,000 from two clients but never completed the work.
Police began investigating in October 2024 after they learned Dave Moncavage, 58, who operated Advanced Interiors, signed contracts with two victims to do construction work and received more than $24,000 in payments. In both cases, police said, Moncavage never completed the projects, and detectives obtained warrants for his arrest.
On March 12, about 3 p.m., police said Moncavage was driving a white Ford F-150 southbound on Mount Zion Road near Sussex Highway in Seaford when a load of material fell off the truck. A trooper pulled over the truck and contacted Moncavage; a computer check revealed home improvement warrants as well as capias warrants. He was taken into custody without incident. During a search of Moncavage and the truck, police said they found drug paraphernalia.
Moncavage was taken to Troop 5 where he was charged with felony home improvement fraud by false impression $1,500 or greater; home improvement fraud receive money for services not completed value $1,500 or greater and victim is 62 years or older/impaired/disabled; two counts possession of drug paraphernalia; and multiple traffic violations. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
