Jay Bastian promoted to Warner Bros. Animation senior vice president

November 4, 2015

Warner Bros. Animation has promoted creative exec Jay Bastian, a Lewes native, to senior vice president. The new appointment was announced recently by Sam Register, president, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series, who oversees the division.

Bastian, a 1987 Cape Henlopen High School graduate, is the son of Jim and Charlotte Bastian.

In his new role, Bastian is responsible for identifying properties from the Warner Bros. collection - including Hanna-Barbera, Looney Tunes, DC Entertainment and MGM - to develop for new television series, shortform content and feature-length projects for home entertainment; working with writers and producers to formulate ideas for original programming; and overseeing ongoing production and current programming matters related to existing shows.

He’ll continue to report to Register and work closely with Peter Girardi, WBA’s senior vice president, Creative Affairs, in WBA’s creative team.

“Jay has been an invaluable member of the Warner Bros. Animation team since joining the company in 2009. Together with Peter Girardi, he has been instrumental in the growth of the division, and our continued success would not be possible without his many creative and strategic contributions. I am extremely happy to be able to announce this well-deserved promotion,” said Register.

WBA’s current television series include Be Cool Scooby-Doo!, Teen Titans Go!, The Tom And Jerry Show and Wabbit – A Looney Tunes Production for Cartoon Network, Mike Tyson Mysteries for Adult Swim, the upcoming Bunnicula for Boomerang, and Green Eggs And Ham, coming in 2018 to Netflix.
