John "Bob" "BS" R. Shanahan, retired truck driver

John "Bob" "BS" R. Shanahan, 77 of Frankford, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, in his home. He was born April 26, 1939, in Baltimore, Md., son of the late Joseph William and Catherine (D'Anthony) Shanahan.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was the former owner of Crossroad Carryout in Bishopville, Md., and worked for several years as a truck driver. John loved woodworking, carpentry, turkey shooting and was an avid lighthouse collector.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Judy E. (Lewis) Shanahan; seven children, Chelsea Shanahan and fiancé Ryan Ballard, Michael Davidson and wife Vanessa, Karen Prettyman and husband Paul, Linda Davidson, Joey Shanahan, Patrick Shanahan and Kim Shanahan; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
