October 3, 2024

A Lewes woman faces her sixth driving under the influence charge after police say she crashed her car on Minos Conaway Road Oct. 2.

Police responded at 4:48 p.m. to the area west of Route 1 after someone reported that Donna Connelly, 62, had been swerving along Old Orchard Road and hit a curb before heading to Minos Conaway where the Chevrolet Equinox was disabled, police said.

Troopers contacted Connelly, who showed multiple signs of impairment, police said, and they administered standardized field sobriety tests.  A computer check showed that Connelly had five prior DUI-related convictions.

Connelly was taken to Troop 7 where she was charged with her sixth DUI offense and failure to have insurance identification in possession. She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in default of $10,050 secured bond.
