The lights are on at Schellville

Christmas Village offers more attractions, concessions and even a sledding hill

The expanded Schellville Christmas Village opened to rave reviews Nov. 19 and 20. Located behind Tanger Outlets Seaside near Rehoboth Beach, Schellville has added several new attractions this season, including an expanded Snow Zone and sledding hill, more slow machines and fire pits, tree houses, nightly live music starting at 7 p.m., a game room, more artisan's space, two new trains and expanded food and drink options.

Presented by Schell Brothers, the Christmas wonderland will be open from 5-9 p.m. on Nov. 25, 26 and 27 and Dec. 1-4; Dec. 8-11; Dec. 15-23. It will be open every night between Dec. 26 and New Year's Day with closures on Nov. 24 and Dec. 24 and 25.

Early-bird hours are from 2-4:30 p.m. with the following venues open: Snow Zone, Christmas Village, Maze of Lights and the game room.

Admission is free and reservations are suggested. Walk-ins are also welcome but may have to wait in line.

Parking is available at the outlets and two off-site locations at Epworth U.M. Church and Rehoboth Little League with free shuttle service available. Handicapped parking is available behind the outlets.

Highlights of Schellville include 18 miniature decorated houses, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a large roller skating rink and path (rentals are $5), train rides, the children's Snow Zone, the Maze of Lights and Beer Garden featuring Dog Fish Head and Revelation libations, the La Vida Hospitality tent and the new Starboard outdoor bar.

In its first year at the new site, more than 104,000 visited Schellville and $100,000 was raised for the Harry K Foundation. Beebe Healthcare, this year's beneficiary, will receive 10% of proceeds from artisan's sales.
