The Lodge at Truitt Homestead hosted its third annual Summer Solstice Luau Party to benefit CAMP Rehoboth June 17, when 200 attendees could celebrate their identities with camaraderie and the summer season. White attire was suggested for the event.
Money raised last year topped $10,000 at the second fundraiser for CAMP.
Live Hawaiian entertainment and dance music from the band Island Breeze entertained the crowd. Hawaiian dancers performed the hula, among other native Hawaiian dances, and taught the attendees the hula dances. The event also featured a fire twirler and themed foods.
“We wrapped up the evening with an hour of nonstop dancing to new and old favorites,” said Barbara Dickinson, director of recreation and events. “As in years past, we were honored to dedicate all the profits from this action-packed and fun-filled event to our friends at CAMP Rehoboth. The Lodge at Truitt Homestead and CAMP Rehoboth share the common values of celebrating diversity, inclusion, acceptance, and a mutual belief in the power of friendship and love. Our 2024 Summer Solstice plans are already underway.”
