Maxine Nuse Evans, retired banker

Maxine Nuse Evans, 89, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, in Lewes.

Born Feb. 1, 1927, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Roscoe Nuse and Evelyn Staples Nuse, and grew up in Cumberland, Md. She was preceded in death by her husband, John McConney Evans Sr.; her twin sister, Geraldine Mowrar; and her brother, Harley Nuse.

Mrs. Evans lived in Harford County, Md. for the majority of her adult life, and worked for many years as a banker. In this life, she enjoyed playing bridge and golf, traveling the world, photography and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Evans is survived by her two sons, John McConney Evans Jr. (Susan) of Havre de Grace, Md., and Gregory Keith Evans (Valerie) of Rehoboth Beach; three grandchildren, Jill Gerringer (Thomas) of Burlington, N.C., Brian Evans (Erica) of Washington, D.C., and Victoria Evans of Rehoboth Beach; and one great-granddaughter, Paige Gerringer.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 4, at 7 p.m., at Bel Air United Methodist Church, 21 Linwood Ave., Bel Air, Md.
