A Millsboro woman, 23, died May 6 following a crash on Route 1 near Lewes.

The crash happened at 1:30 a.m. when the woman was driving a Kia Forte northbound on Route 1 south of Nassau Road and ran off the roadway. The car ran off the east edge of the roadway and struck a traffic signal support pole, police said.

The woman was unrestrained, police said, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld until her family is notified.

The roadway was closed for about three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
