President prepares for Paris trip at North Shores home

Biden heading to France to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy
June 3, 2024

President Joe Biden is expected to be traveling to Paris, France, in the coming days.

Similar to his week-long European trip abroad in July 2023, when he went to England, Finland and Lithuania, Biden spent time at his North Shores home this weekend before crossing the Atlantic.

The president arrived to his beach home from his Wilmington-area home in the morning of May 30. The next day, he made a quick return to Washington, D.C., for, among other things, hosting a celebration for the Kansas City Chiefs, who won the Super Bowl in February. Biden returned to his beach home late in the day Friday and didn’t do too much the rest of the weekend. He did go for a bike ride on the Gordons Pond Trail near his house and went to church Saturday at St. Edmond’s on King Charles Avenue, but for the most part, he stayed put. He and first lady Jill Biden, who had a speaking engagement Friday in Milwaukee, Wis., and another Saturday in Erie, Penn., departed for their Wilmington-area home Sunday evening.

According to a May 30 press release from the White House, Biden will be in France from Wednesday, June 5, to Sunday, June 9. He will be participating in events to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy during World War II.
