Robert J. Gooch, retired supervisor

Robert J. Gooch, known to many as Bobby, was born Sept. 10, 1937, in Lewes. He was one of 12 children born to the late Letha and Ernest Gooch Sr. Bobby passed away peacefully at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021.

Bobby was preceded in death by his late wife Harriet. He was a tireless worker who worked at Doxsee Foods and the state highway department as a supervisor of the sign department. Upon retirement, Bobby would later work at Super Fresh and Acme, as well as Coastal Towing. He was a lifelong member of the former St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Lewes, serving with both the Methodist Men and the choir.

He leaves to cherish many memories of him and is survived by a daughter: Louise Maull of Milton; two granddaughters: Tamika Stewart of Newark and Zona Saez (Jose) of Lewes; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Berdie Banks and Dorothy Johnson (Verdell), both of Millsboro; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
