A May 25 crash shut down southbound Route 1 traffic at Cave Neck Road near Milton.
The crash occurred at about 7:45 p.m. According to Cpl. Leonard DeMalto of the Delaware State Police, a white 2016 Honda Pilot was traveling northbound on Route 1, preparing to turn left onto Cave Neck Road. At the same time, a blue 2017 Hyundai Tucson was traveling southbound on Route 1 approaching the same intersection. The Pilot began turning left onto Cave Neck Road without properly yielding to southbound traffic and the two cars collided in the intersection.
Both the driver of the Pilot, a 63-year-old man from Milton, and the passenger, a 63-year-old woman from Milton, were taken via ambulance to an area hospital for serious injuries. The driver of the Tucson, a 21-year-old woman from Street, Md., and the passenger, a 22-year-old woman from Joppa, Md., were both taken by ambulance to an area hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries.
The roadway was closed for about three hours.
