Royals soccer falls to Woodbridge 6-1

September 28, 2022

The Blue Raiders soccer team scored five goals in the first half and went on to a 6-1 win over Delmarva Christian Sept. 27 in Georgetown.

Kasey Bell scored the lone goal for the Royals. Isaiah Walton was credited with the assist.

“Woodbridge was a good team who brought a lot of players,” said Royals coach Dan Walton. “Even with their constant substitutions, my guys held their own and played hard. We saw a lot of good stuff from my guys and we are growing as a team. The first half was a slow start for us, but we held Woodbridge to one goal in the second half. The younger players did a great job filling in for some injured upperclassmen. JD Hastings had a great game in goal. He led our team from the back. Lewis Burris had a solid game in the middle working hard and connecting passes.”

Angel Gonzalez scored three goals for the Woodbridge team. Rubin Hernandez added two scores, while Cristofer Morales hit the twine once. Derek Barrientos, Hernandez and Luke Chisenhall were credited with assists.

Woodbridge outshot the Royals 14-1 and held a 6-2 advantage in penalty corners. Jedidiah Hastings made eight saves in the Royals goal.

The Blue Raiders move to 3-2 on the season, while the Royals move to 3-5.
