SpaceX rocket passes through Cape Region sky
Early risers in the Cape Region were treated to an unusual visual Sept. 10 – the launching of Space X’s Polaris Dawn.
According to SpaceX’s website, the rocket launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 5:23 a.m.
One of those early risers was area resident Katie Joseph, who happened to be outside prepping breakfast for her horses.
“I happened to glance up and see more brightness than usual. I wasn't sure exactly what I was looking at, so I started videoing. Once I noticed that whatever it was falling and fading out, I assumed it was an asteroid,” said Joseph, in an email a few hours after the rocket launched. “Once I posted it on social media, a friend commented and let me know it was a SpaceX launch. I was grateful to be an early bird so that I got to see it with my own eyes.”
