The Sussex Academy boys’ soccer team won its first Division II state championship Nov. 18, with a 2-1 win over Saint Mark’s in the finals at Dover High School.
After playing to a 1-1 tie in regulation, the teams battled through a pair of scoreless overtime periods. Sussex Academy goalkeeper C.J. Norton stopped a penalty kick in the second overtime period to keep his team alive.
The Seahawks won in penalty kicks 5-4, with sophomore George Sapna scoring the winner.
