Tonya Lynn Gale, loving daughter, mother

June 28, 2024
Tonya Lynn Gale, 53, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 14, 2024. She was born May 25, 1971, daughter of J. William Zimmerman and Connie (Lyter) Zimmerman.

She grew up in New Cumberland, Pa., graduating from Cedar Cliff High School in 1989, and later achieved her bachelor’s degree in teaching and clinical psychology from Millersville University.

If you had the pleasure of knowing Tonya, you knew she was an excellent cook and especially enjoyed preparing Italian cuisine, including pasta, sauces, and bread from scratch.

She enjoyed traveling through all regions of Italy and went on many road trips with her children.

Tonya loved visiting Lewes and Rehoboth during her time in college and eventually made the move to call Southern Delaware home. After graduating from college, she co-created Oby Lee Coffee Roastery in Rehoboth and created The Best Places in Town Magazine, highlighting local businesses in Sussex County. She was incredibly hard-working and humorous, and enjoyed spurring friendships with the locals and tourists alike of Lewes and Rehoboth.

Perhaps Tonya’s greatest gifts were her three children, Hunter Gale, Harrison Gale and Teagan Gale. They embody all of her best attributes, and she lives on through them. Tonya will be dearly missed by her children, as well as her mother, Connie (Lyter) Zimmerman.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
