UNICO National honors Victor Basili of Lewes
The 2023 UNICO National Marconi Science Award recipient is Lewes resident Dr. Victor Basili, a member of the UNICO Rehoboth Area Chapter.
The award follows many previous accolades for Basili, professor emeritus of computer science at the University of Maryland College Park. In his software engineering work, he has developed methods for measuring, evaluating and improving the software development process.
Basili’s wife, Dr. Patricia D’Amato Basili, is also a celebrated educator with a doctorate in science education and teacher education. The couple moved to Lewes in 2009.
The Basilis will be special guests at the UNICO National meeting in March in Alexandria, Va., where the award will be presented.
In 2010, UNICO Rehoboth Area Chapter member Joseph Mule was given this honor.
One of many honors bestowed annually, the UNICO National Marconi Science Award was established in 1995 to recognize a living scientist who exemplifies Marconi’s vast scientific and creative accomplishments through their own life and career achievements.
