I'm a great fan of Cassie Taggart's art. It's kicky. It enthralls me.
We're blessed with a number of very fine artists in Delaware's Cape Region. Most take their inspiration from the beautiful natural world around us and the coastal culture.
Cassie draws from a different realm. With wonderful artistic proficiency, she creates fantastical scenes that challenge our conventional thinking. Her works make our synapses fire in often-dusty directions to find new spaces in our minds, leaving us scratching our heads and smiling at the same time.
Her most recent show hangs now on the walls of the Rehoboth Art League annex in the former McQuay's Market on Rehoboth Avenue just over the drawbridge. The league has created a comfortable exhibit space with complimentary lighting. The people in Taggart's works - and there are lots of people with lots of emotions spilling out in images all over her scenes - appear comfortable in the space.
Her works are very human.
It's a strong show, the first solo exhibit in that space, and it's worth a look.
If you have children along, they will enjoy creating their own artwork on the the big blackboard outside where there is a bucket filled with colored chalk.
Artists are the best! (Tolstoy said art succeeds as art to the extent that it enhances the feeling of brotherhood between all people. Unity.)
