Dishes for a Duchess and Her Duke

Did you know that the new Duchess of Sussex lets PLANTS take center stage for most of her meals? According to a recent interview with BEST HEALTH, Meghan Markle, who has a weakness for energizing pasta and satisfying potatoes, follows a vegan diet during the week though she may make exceptions on weekends. And she’s been a big influence on Harry’s dietary choices as well. That’s good news for both Duke and Duchess for short term and long term health, for increased stamina, for weight control and for environmental impact.

When I learned that Meghan and Harry did their grocery shopping at the London Whole Foods Market near their “cottage” in Kensington Palace, I remembered that was where my husband and I found wonderful oil free plant-based choices during an extended visit a few years ago. We used to walk all day, then end up at the Kensington Whole Foods for an amazing feast which we leisurely enjoyed in the comfort and anonymity of their upstairs dining area.

I don’t suppose the Duke and Duchess will find anonymity in Whole Foods but they will find a wide array of fruit, vegetables, beans and whole grains to keep them healthy as they deal with the demands of Royalty. I hope they try some of the ready-made plant-based dishes we loved so much when we visited their charming home market.
