Race for Life

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I want women, and the men who care about women, to know about Dr. Ruth Heidrich, world-class runner, health educator, and breast cancer survivor. I first learned about Ruth from the life-saving documentary film FORKS OVER KNIVES. Then I met Ruth in person while canoeing on the Wailua River in Hawaii this past January. (Read about our adventures here http://www.capegazette.com/blog-entry/meeting-dr-ruth-heidrich/124800)

Now in her 80s, Ruth sparkles! She is full of energy, fun and wisdom! She shares that wisdom in her 4 books pictured here. They tell an amazing story that inspires and educates readers to take charge of their own health.

Here in her own words is Ruth’s message:

“I'm guessing you might have seen me in that great documentary, Forks Over Knives, or my interview on http://renaissancehumans.com/ruth-heidrich/ . Check out my website, http://www.ruthheidrich.com and my 4 books on nutrition, fitness, & how after a diagnosis of Stage 4 breast cancer, I refused chemo & radiation, and changed to a low-fat vegan diet and to prove just how powerful this diet is, crossed the finish line of the Kona Ironman Triathlon just 2 years later! The first cancer patient to do it and the first vegan to do it! I'd like to get this information out to more people as it's so important for health, the environment, and, of course, the animals!”
