A collection of Lewes artist Tom Wilson’s pastels netted more than $8,000 at a Stuart Kingston auction April 28.
Larger pieces “Flowers in the Rain” and “Pig in a Poke” auctioned for $2,400 and $2,300, respectively. Less than a year ago, a similar-sized Wilson oil on canvas, “Summer Day - Hilton,” auctioned for just $700 in Pennsylvania.
Small floral scenes “Iris,” “Roses,” “Garden Flowers” and “Flowers” collected from $825 to $900 apiece.
Wilson died in 1995 in his Lewes Beach home. Indiana Avenue Filmmakers Collective is producing a documentary on his work and life, set to be screened at this fall’s Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival. Follow the documentary’s progress on Facebook at ‘Untitled Tom Wilson Documentary.’
