Nino Luciano D’Orazio, 82, of Dagsboro passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019, at his home with his family by his side.
Nino retired from Delmarva Power in 1997 after 30 years of service. He also owned several businesses during his life. In the 1970s: Nino’s Dairy Bar; in 1980s Nino’s Car Washes and Laundromats; in the 1990s and 2000s, Millville Mini Storages. Nino also owned several rental properties with his children.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years, and also was a former member of the Lord Baltimore Lions Club. Nino had a love for antiques, especially his ‘57 Chevy and his ‘31 Ford with a rumble seat. He was a true workaholic, an all-around great man, a jokester with great wit, and amazing host. His true love and passion were for his family and friends as he enjoyed taking family vacations and going out to dinner with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John D’Orazio; his mother Maria D’Orazio; and a brother, John D’Orazio Jr.
Nino is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Doris (Thompson) D’Orazio; his children, Lynn and Michael Blatzheim, Sandra and Michael Mercer, Richard and Cecilia D’Orazio, and Deborah and David Summerlin; 12 grandchildren, Michael Nino Blatzheim, Cory and Cameron Powell, Matthew, Joshua and Madison Mercer, Matthew, Elizabeth, Andrew and Joseph D’Orazio, Jill and Ava Summerlin; and eight great-grandchildren, Michael Nino Blatzheim Jr., Cody, Brea, Cassie, Adalynn and Ayden Powell, and Mason and Gavin Mercer.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 22, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road. A visitation will also be held at the funeral home from 9 to 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, where a funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro.
