The sound of hammers and saws filled the air in the Pine Street area of Milton March 4 at the start of International Women Build Week.
Volunteers started a four-month building project constructing a new home for a single mother and her two children. During the construction process, Sussex County Habitat for Humanity and Lowe’s will provide volunteers and tools for the project. This will be the sixth house built by women volunteers in Sussex County.
Prior to strapping on tool belts, more than 60 volunteers participated in Habitat’s Women Build Program over the past year, which included seven home-building clinics led by female volunteers, said Katie Millard, Habitat director of development and advocacy.
