Terrapin Island appeal set for Oct. 19
An appeal of the Terrapin Island preliminary subdivision approval granted July 8 by Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission will he heard by Sussex County Council starting at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 19, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle.
Terrapin Island is a proposed 42-lot subdivision on 32 acres off Camp Arrowhead Road near Lewes.
County Administrator Todd Lawson said the appeal process will be overseen by retired Superior Court Judge Charles Toliver IV. He also said no public comment will be allowed, and seating for the public will be very limited. He suggested those interested should view the proceedings remotely on the county's livestream at sussexcountyde.gov/council-chamber-broadcast.
The appeal was filed by Keith Steck of Milton and 175 other residents based on several reasons. They allege there was inaccurate information on the application form and planning and zoning documents, and that inaccurate statements were made by the applicant.
According to Sussex County Administrator Todd Lawson, each side will have 1.25 hours to present their case to council. The citizens will be represented by Michelle Forzley and Steck. The county will be represented by attorneys Everett Moore and Vince Robertson. Attorney Richard Forsten will represent the developer.
