Kenny Cay of Bridgeville and Madison Leeper of Millsboro were crowned Sussex Academy’s Homecoming king and queen at halftime of the Seahawks’ Oct. 22 soccer match versus Sussex Central.
The crowning ceremony was the culmination of a daylong celebration at the school, including a pep rally in the gym.
Also vying for queen were Hannah Lydic of Ocean View, Elle McKay of Lewes, Adrianne Boladas of Georgetown, Kylee Forester of Millsboro, Gabby Orsini of Lewes, Tristyn Piperno of Selbyville, Savannah Shriner of Selbyville and Maria Suarez of Seaford.
Seeking the title of king were Jackson Basile of Lewes, Ty Hudson of Lewes, Jayson Kirschner of Lewes and Logan Podraski of Lewes.
As part of the Homecoming game, the boys’ soccer team spearheaded a fundraiser called Pink Out by selling hot pink sweatshirts in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Ten percent of the sales of the sweatshirts will go to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Sussex County. Most of spectators at the game wore pink in support of the effort. Sussex Academy players also wore pink socks for the game.
