Beebe Healthcare’s annual spring health fair has a new time and location. Spring into Health will be Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Georgetown CHEER Community Center. Beebe’s free health fairs are a great resource for community members to receive screenings, resources, and learn from Beebe experts in their field. Free lunch is also provided for attendees. The health screenings for this fair include blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, body mass index, and bone density.
Presentations will begin at 10 a.m. First is Gavin Furlong, a Beebe Medical Foundation Donor and cancer survivor. He will be sharing his experience and treatment at Beebe, noting the increased presence of colorectal cancer in young adults. Following Furlong’s story, Owen Thomas, MD, board-certified radiation oncologist, will present on age-related screenings for cancer as well as discussing what cancer is and steps you can take to prevent it. The final presentation is from Chistopher Manieri, DO, a board-certified bariatric surgeon at Beebe’s Center for Weight Loss Surgery. He will discuss valuable tips on nutrition, obesity, and how weight loss surgery can be the most effective step for long-term success.
In addition to these Beebe resources, there will be additional professionals from healthcare and community organizations available to provide information and answer questions. Topics include: estate planning, senior care, end of life care, insurance information, annual wellness, preventative care, health and fitness information and coaching. There will also training and resources on Stop the Bleed training, safe sleep for infants, services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, planning for emergency and disasters, Narcan training, and LGBTQ resources.
