Bayhealth is proud to announce its Gastroenterology Fellowship Program has been granted initial accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), paving the way for Bayhealth to launch the first adult gastroenterology program in Delaware.This accreditation is a testament to the program’s commitment to excellence in training the next generation of gastroenterologists.
The accreditation process involves rigorous evaluation of various aspects of the fellowship program, including faculty qualifications, educational curriculum, clinical resources, and patient care standards.
The Gastroenterology Fellowship Program at Bayhealth offers fellows a diverse and robust educational experience, including exposure to a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders, endoscopic procedures, and research opportunities. Fellows will work closely with experienced faculty members who are leaders in their respective subspecialties, gaining invaluable clinical knowledge and skills.
As an ACGME-accredited program, Bayhealth’s Gastroenterology Fellowship is now eligible to participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), providing prospective fellows with a structured and transparent application process.

The three-year program will begin with two fellows on July 1, 2025, and will be at full complement by 2028 with 6 fellows.
This fellowship joins Bayhealth’s Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship Program, which welcomed its first two fellows this summer. These programs are part of Bayhealth’s Graduate Medical Education programs, which now totals over 80 residents and fellows each year in six different specialties. These programs enable physicians to hone their specialty expertise while providing patient care that benefits our communities.
