Girl Scout artwork brightens Lewes Public Library

Sussex County League of Women Voters, Troop 665 mark Delaware Peace Week

Multiple community groups came together at the Lewes Public Library Oct. 12, to celebrate Delaware Peace Week.

Girl Scout Troop 665 leader Jessica Sager said her neighbor, Ida Rowe of the Sussex County League of Women Voters, reached out regarding a collaborative project reflecting the theme of “Peace Delaware Style.” 

Scouts of all ages participated in the project, using the art media they most enjoyed, whether it was mosaic tile, watercolor or yarn art, to produce their interpretation of the theme.

Members of the Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild were asked to write poetry corresponding with the artwork and theme, and all parties convened at the Oct. 12 reception to view the art, listen to original poetry and learn more about the work of the Sussex County League of Women Voters and Girl Scouts.

Artwork will be displayed at Lewes Public Library through Thursday, Oct. 31.
