The Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 1 for its Ag Lab. The Ag Education Lab Summer Camp Campaign was the first statewide project of the Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation in partnership with the Delaware Department of Agriculture & the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware.

The event was attended by Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware staff, Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation staff and directors, Nationwide Insurance partners and local government officials.

This summer, the Ag Lab made stops at Boys & Girls Club locations in Wilmington, Milford, Dagsboro, Rehoboth, Seaford and  Georgetown, and it will be attending a camp in Millsboro Thursday and Friday, Aug.14 and 15.

The Ag Lab has reached over 600 children at seven different camps. The Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation plans on participating in the Boys & Girls Club Day for Kids from noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Wilmington Riverfront.

The foundation is also developing a fundraising plan to auction farm vehicle tags FV 1 through FV 10 to raise funds to purchase or lease a truck to pull the Ag Lab, cover maintenance costs and purchase additional labs in the future.

The foundation also plans to auction an FV tag during the Delaware Farm Bureau 70th Anniversary Dinner scheduled for Dec. 4 at the Modern Maturity Center in Dover.
