Sussex Tech’s Lily Short powered the Ravens girls’ soccer team with four goals to down Cape 5-1 on Tech’s Senior Day May 18.

Short’s first goal at the 24-minute mark gave the Ravens a 1-0 lead at the halftime break. She hit the twine three more times in the second half along with a goal from teammate Dylan Brown to finish the scoring.

Jo Ingerski scored the lone Cape goal at the 64-minute mark.

Tech outshot the Vikings 9-6.

Cape keeper Bri Burrell and Tech goalie Ebony Wilson each made four stops.

The Vikings finish their season at 7-7-1, while the Ravens are 7-8.

“I’m really proud of our girls,” said Cape coach Patrick Kilby. “They fought hard this season. I really appreciate the effort and leadership of our seniors.”

“I am so happy for this Tech team and the resolve they have shown,” said head coach Carlos Villa. “They finished a challenging season with three strong wins. Lilly Short, one of the top five players in the state, was unstoppable. God has blessed me with 22 years of wonderful memories, as this is my last year of coaching.”
