James “Mac” Mann Sr., security guard

James “Mac” Mann Sr., 75, was born in Engelhard, N.C. He departed this life Sunday, April 19, 2020.
He was affectionately known as “Mac.” He was born to Ella Mann. James was honorably discharged from the Army because he was her only child. 
James worked for the poultry industry for over 40 years where he retired. Retirement didn’t settle with him so he became a security guard at Vlasic.
Mac enjoyed working, talking to neighbors, making grills and he raved about his homemade BBQ sauces and grilled chicken. Mac loved to give words of wisdom and mentoring young people. He loved the guitar and his favorite entertainer was BB King.
James is preceded in death by his mother, Ella Mae Posey; stepfather Joseph Posey; special aunt Ola Gibbs; his half-brother Jennis Bowden Sr.; his two sons Brian K. Mann and James Mann Jr.; his mother-in-law Anna Nichols; and father-in-law Norman Nichols, Margaret Matthews and his good friend Mr. Louis Kane.
James leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 55 years Joan B. Mann; stepson Winston Nichols; stepdaughter Marcella Nichols; his daughter Ann (Raymond) Frazier; and his baby girl Joy Mann; two special aunts, Patricia Mann and Delores Andrews; two special friends, Mark Williams and Donald Webb; special friend Shirley Gibbs; Jack Gibbs Sr. (cousin); and a goddaughter, India Thompson. He has 14 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish a host of friends and a beautiful community of Broadacres.
