Police: Millsboro daycare worker hit child in the face

A Millsboro woman faces a child abuse charge July 9 after police say she hit a 2-year-old child.

Police were notified June 3 by the Division of Family Services that a staff member of Bright Beginnings Daycare on Route 24 near Millsboro had hit a 2-year-old child in the face on May 31. Police said Veronica Ayres, 47, was terminated the day of the incident.

Ayres turned herself in at Troop 4 July 9 and was charged with third-degree child abuse. She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on her own recognizance.
