MLK celebrated at Wesley Chapel UM Church
Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Slaughter Neck was filled with song and prayer Jan. 15 at the annual worship service tribute to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year’s program was titled “Living the Dream: It Starts With Me.”
Attendees were joined in worship with Bryan Clark and the Joyful Expressions. Lorraine Smith performed a praise dance. Roslyn Daniels Harris performed a solo of “Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen.”
Bishop Jamie Hazzard delivered the message at the service.
“We are all here by the grace of God,” Hazzard said. “This holiday we are participating in is an example from the grace of God. Dr. King and all his works and the wonderful things he’s done, that needs to be celebrated. But with all that celebrates him, we’ve got to celebrate the grace of God.”
